Sixteen to Nine months prior
Within this time, you can start leafing through fashion, bridal, gardening and food magazines just to get the inspiration. Running around the last minute may not avail much. Within this time, you can also book your officiant, research on florists, photographers and caterers. If you plan to have an engagement party, this is the moment.
Eight to Six Months Before
This is the period within which you need to hire the videographer and photographer. You may not discuss the specifics but ensure that they have a good record of taking excellent shots. At this point, you can also book the entertainment, meet the caterers and purchase your wedding dress. For the dress in particular, you have to do at least three fittings so as to eliminate any doubt about its suitability. Las Vegas being a city, there will obviously be out of town guests. This is the moment to book hotel rooms for them in advance to avoid inconveniences. You can also sign up a wedding gifts registry at various retailers. In case you need to launch a website, this is the time to do it.
It is also not too early to meet the officiant, begin your honeymoon planning and purchase invitation cards to send out to your expected guests. Decide on your wedding palette and book your florist in advance.
Five to Four months to the wedding
This is the perfect time to hire your transportation. This should include the bride car, the trolleys and town cars to ferry the guests around. Start designing the wedding programme from start to finish. This is the right period to book rehearsal venues, order your wedding cake, schedule makeup artists and choose your music.
Three to two months before
This is about 12-8 weeks to the wedding. Within this time, you can finalize the menu and the flowers; put final touches on the readings, finalize the programme of the day and have it printed. You also need to use this period to purchase the rings and send your vendors the event schedule. Invitations to guests are also sent out at this point as you touch base with your deejay, photographer and the newspaper editorial team in case you want your wedding announcement to be published.
One month to the occasion
Confirm the attendance of guest who have not responded, pick your marriage license, visit the dress maker for your last fitting, finalize any payments, email the directions to the wedding venue to the drivers and transport coordinators, assign seating arrangements and delegate some tasks where necessary.
A week to the wedding
This is the final stretch. You need to pick your dress, send the bridal party the timeline of events, make final arrangements with the photographer and the moments you want him to capture, make a manicure and pedicure appointment and send the final guest list to the caterers for planning.
